Actually, the Uxbridge store had a bit of a wobble in 2019 when it closed for refurbishment – and a big sign in the window promised it would be back in the Spring or Summer of 2020. However, the closure dragged on for more than five years because of the refurb and the pandemic – and it wasn’t until recently that the shop finally reopened. Barnard’s Bookshop in Windsor Street stood in for Waterstones Uxbridge during this time – but now the local community can get back to its books.
